AMRAI
AMRAI is a traditional girl’s name from the Montafon region, derived from the names Anna and Maria. While few women are called by this name these days, it embodies the distinctive Montafon way of life and serves as the namesake and guardian spirit of the house at AMRAI.
She is a charming young woman, deeply rooted in her homeland, who lives and breathes Montafon traditions with every fiber of her being. AMRAI is charming, gracious, and quite clever. With her unique and stylish flair, she embraces casual elegance and weaves her tasteful touch throughout the entire house. At the same time, she evokes the original values and the simple, yet fulfilling way of life of her ancestors.
She proudly shows you her homeland and invites you into her home as she hops over hill and dale with the local sheeps called "Steinschafe". Speaking of "Steinschaf"…
The "Steinschaf"
Wherever AMRAI goes, the Montafon "Steinschaf" sheep shows up sooner or later. Why is that? Well, there seems to be a special bond between AMRAI and the "Steinschaf" sheep—a close friendship that has likely lasted since childhood.
Maybe because every "Steinschaf" is special and has its own unique personality? Or does AMRAI simply enjoy gathering the flock around her because the Montafoners are such a sociable bunch and, for them, nothing matters more than friendship and family?
What’s certain is that the Montafon "Steinschaf" was nearly extinct 30 years ago and was reintroduced with great effort. Nowadays, it can once again be seen quite frequently around the mountain pastures. By the way, compared to other sheep, it’s smaller and slimmer, undemanding, and extremely hardy.
Architecture
Rooted in its homeland and with a deep love for tradition, AMRAI has translated the Montafon way of life into modern architecture, adding a generous dose of luxury. To achieve this, AMRAI has incorporated traditional materials from her homeland, elements of the traditional costume, and the lightness of the mountain pasture culture, using them to create distinctive design worlds.
From the smallest copper drinking straw to the striking building gable, everything at AMRAI tells a story. The story of the Montafon, of love for her homeland, and of what is truly valuable in life. Want to hear it? AMRAI would be happy to tell you!
Cuisine
Where better for AMRAI to live out her core values of enjoyment and connection than in the kitchen? Even as a child, she would listen to her Ahna’s (grandmother’s) stories while she cooked, learning from her and developing her refined palate in the process.
That’s why it was especially important to her to create a place where people can come together and enjoy themselves. Whether with family, friends, or new acquaintances, a sense of closeness is fostered here through shared time, conversation, and lovingly prepared dishes.
Authentic recipes, regional ingredients, and an openness to the world’s culinary delights come together at AMRAI to create a cuisine that is rooted in the Montafon yet remains open to new experiences.

Spa Worlds
Yes, the way to pleasure is through the stomach. But according to AMRAI, we shouldn’t neglect the rest of our body either! After all, it carries us through the world, lets us feel and be alive. Through it, we enjoy touch, warmth, and movement. For AMRAI, it goes without saying that we should cherish and strengthen it. She prefers to nurture it with local active ingredients, through traditional or health-promoting treatments, and revitalize it with alternating hot and cold baths—just as her Montafon ancestors did.
To make room for these rituals, AMRAI has created two special—and at the same time contrasting—oases of tranquility. This ensures that everyone can find relaxation tailored to their tastes and access to the unspoiled essence of the Montafon. Whether through a stay at the airy Maisäß or a retreat to the quiet Stólla. They, too, are shaped by regional architectural traditions and local materials—authentic and effective.
