Family holidays in the Montafon with a base in Schruns

Mountains for the children, spa for the parents and short distances for everyone – that’s the concept behind family holidays at the AMRAI. The guided BergePLUS programme changes daily and is specifically aimed at families and children; it’s free for guests. Activities such as the family adventure at Golm combine your stay with adventure tickets for the mountain. Back at the hotel, the copper bath is open to all ages, whilst parents can take turns retreating to the Maisöde Spa. The Family Holidays section shows how the hotel caters for children from the moment they wake up to mealtimes.

Programme for children on family holidays: Montafon as a playground

Outside lies the hotel’s actual kids’ club. Through the BergePLUS programme, guides lead daily excursions through the valley, with activities for adults, families and children, ranging from snowshoeing to adventure hikes; participation is free for hotel guests. The Golm Adventure Mountain complements the programme during the warmer months; the hotel’s family packages already include the adventure ticket. In winter, the free ski shuttle takes families to the Hochjoch and Zamang lifts; equipment is stored overnight in the heated ski room, with a dedicated locker per room. For self-guided tours, routes are available on Guestnet, whilst snowshoes, poles and crampons can be hired from reception, subject to availability. On rainy days, the guesthouse offers a copper bath, living rooms complete with sofa beds and a kitchenette. Seasonal family packages including mountain activities are listed on the Offers page, where adventure tickets are also featured. The neighbouring villages are also involved, for example when the hiking shuttle stops at the Bartholomäberg and Latschau car parks in summer, where both pram-friendly and more challenging routes begin.

AMRAI's Variety of Rooms

Accommodation and dining on a family holiday: the Montafon suite concept

Families are accommodated in categories designed to cater for children’s daily routines. Family Suites, ranging from 74 to 106 square metres, separate the generations across two or more bedrooms and bathrooms, 70-square-metre suites feature a sofa bed in the living room, whilst Pool Suites include a private, year-round heated outdoor pool. Children up to and including the age of four stay free of charge in their parents’ bed; the hotel provides a travel cot free of charge. In the evenings, families spread out across the Stoba and Holz-Stoba, where the evening meal from 6.30 pm is timed to suit children’s bedtimes; the Grüne Stoba remains a adults-only area. The three-quarter board package also includes breakfast and an afternoon snack, so that hungry guests returning from the mountain at 1.00 pm are catered for straight away. The kitchen can prepare lactose-free and gluten-free options on request. Floor plans and room allocations for the family categories are available for comparison in the suite overview. Dogs are also welcome on family holidays, with a maximum of two per room; basic equipment including a blanket, bowl and bed is provided, and there are clear rules regarding restaurants and spa areas.
