As a base in the Montafon, the AMRAI covers both halves of a day in the mountains: the active part outdoors and the relaxing part indoors. Hikes, bike tours and days on the slopes in the Silvretta Montafon start from Schruns, either as part of the free BergePLUS programme or on your own using routes from Guestnet. Afterwards, there are two spa areas to enjoy: the Gipflsee on the roof and the Stobas, serving regional cuisine. Snowshoes, walking poles and crampons are available for hire from reception, subject to availability. The Aktiv & Montafon section organises what the valley has to offer in both seasons by time of year.
From the hotel to the Montafon: shuttles, cable cars and guided tours
The routes from the hotel into the mountains are well organised. In winter, the free ski shuttle runs to the Hochjoch and Zamang cable cars; alternatively, the Silvretta Montafon valley station is about a ten-minute walk away. In summer, the hiking shuttle covers the routes to the Bartholomäberg and Latschau hiking car parks, from which numerous routes branch off. The BergePLUS programme, which changes daily, takes adults, families and children on guided tours through the valley and is free for guests. Cyclists can hire bikes from partners in Schruns with a ten per cent guest discount and park their bikes in the underground car park, where sockets are available to charge e-bikes free of charge. Maps showing e-bike routes and charging stations are available at reception. The timetables and destinations of the hiking shuttle can be factored into your tour planning before you arrive. For tours in open terrain, the principle of personal responsibility applies; the hotel therefore expressly emphasises the importance of avalanche awareness and suitable avalanche transceiver equipmentand directs less experienced guests towards the guided options in the weekly programme.
AMRAI's Variety of Rooms
Back at the hotel: Montafon relaxation after a day in the mountains
The second part of the day is devoted to recovery. Tired legs can be soothed either in the Gipflsee on the roof terrace, whose water is heated all year round, or in the more tranquil copper bath at the Stöll Spa. The saunas in both areas open at 10 am and remain open until 8 pm; relaxation areas and the roof terrace provide a welcome respite in between. Those looking for more targeted relaxation can book massages or baths via the spa reception, tailored to the stresses of the day. The fitness room on the third floor offers stretching and balance training from 8 am to 8 pm. In the evening, the three-quarter board package rounds off the day, with dinner served from 6.30 pm in the Stobas and the bar open until 11.30 pm. For muscle care at your own pace, suites with a private sauna or whirlpool offer an alternative, as shown in the Spa & Pools section. At the end of a long day in the mountains, it’s the little details that matter – such as having your ski boots and equipment left to dry in the heated ski room with your own locker, ready and pre-warmed the next morning..
