Hotel with a sauna in the Montafon: from the Aufguss to your own private cabin

At the AMRAI in Schruns, there are two sauna areas within the hotel and a third in many of the suites. The sauna areas at the Maisäß Spa on the roof and the Stólla Spa in the basement are open daily from 10 am to 8 pm, both are clothing-optional and offer different atmospheres: the upper area with mountain views, the lower with a cosy, warm copper ambience. In addition, several room categories feature their own sauna behind the door. This means there’s a place for every sauna preference, from the classic Aufguss ritual to a private sweat session at midnight. Both areas of the spa, with their saunas, are shown on the floor plan at Spa & Pools in the floor plan.

Saunas in two worlds: rules and character of the building areas

A sauna session at AMRAI feels different depending on the floor. In the Maisäß Spa on the roof, you can sweat whilst enjoying views üver the rooftops of Schruns to the mountain range, cool off in the fresh air on the roof terrace and then relax by the Gipflsee; this entire area is exclusively for guests aged 18 and over. In the Stólla Spa below, the cosy atmosphere of the eponymous stable prevails, with dark wood, copper and subdued lighting; the sauna area there is open to young people aged 14 and over when accompanied by an adult. In both areas, clothing is optional; guests bring a bathrobe and spa bag from their room, and towels are provided. Opening hours are from 10.00 to 20.00, though these may vary slightly depending on the season. If you’re feeling peckish after the final infusion, the evening menu is served from 18.30 at Stobas. The Stolla Spa provides a more detailed introduction to the lower sauna area and its range of materials. Sauna sessions and rest periods almost naturally punctuate the afternoon, as the relaxation rooms are just a few steps away between sessions and the roof terrace provides fresh air to cool down.

AMRAI's Variety of Rooms

Your own sauna at the hotel: categories with a private cabin

For anyone who prefers to work up a sweat on their own terms, the hotel offers suites with a private sauna. Sauna Suites, ranging from 58 to 96 square metres, are literally designed around the deluxe sauna and feature a fireplace next to it, Family Suites incorporate the private cabin into a family-sized layout with several bedrooms, Spa Suites combine it with an onsen pool and steam shower, and Junior Suites offer the option of a sauna on the terrace with mountain views. Once inside the suite, there are no dress codes, time slots or prying eyes; a sauna session before breakfast is just as possible as one after the bar has closed. Parents can use the sauna here with their children, couples can enjoy it in private, and anyone who needs to follow their own routine for health reasons can set the temperature and duration themselves. Housekeeping provides fresh towels on request. The suite overview, ranging from the Studio to the Pool Suite. In terms of price, access to your own cabin starts below the larger categories, for example with the Junior Suite complete with a terrace sauna, so that private sauna use is not limited to the larger categories.
