The Spa Suite in detail: five water and heat features across 70 square metres
Each element of the suite caters to a different moment. The Deluxe Sauna offers the classic sweating ritual, whether before breakfast or long after midnight, with no need to worry about what to wear. The Onsen bathing pool, inspired by the Japanese bathing tradition, holds warm water for long soaks, whilst the steam shower with rain showerhead provides a quick transition between the different areas. The freestanding bath in front of the window connects the bathroom with the mountain view, and the lounge with its waterbed provides a space for relaxation, a role usually fulfilled by the relaxation room elsewhere. Underfloor heating, bathrobes and spa bags are all part of the standard provision, whilst housekeeping provides a fresh supply of towels. This creates a complete spa experience that takes place right by the bed and requires no walking through the house. The way the choice of materials – wood, wool and copper – shapes these rooms is part of the architecture of the house into the wider context. Despite having its own facilities, access to both in-house spas remains part of the booking. Many guests therefore split their day between the Gipflsee and the steam sessions at the Maisödf Spa in the afternoon, when the panoramic views and company are appealing, and a private session in the evening, when the hotel’s spa facilities close at 8 pm. Treatments such as massages continue to take place in the treatment rooms and can be arranged via the spa reception to fit in between the two sessions.
